instructor courses provide high quality training in
teaching techniques - both ashore and afloat. Fully
qualified RYA coaches/assessors guide participants
through the intensive learning process required to
become an instructor.
Pre-entry
Training and Assessment
This
essential assessment must be completed before attending
the Dinghy Instructor Course. Run by a RYA
coach/assessor, the assessment covers a variety of
manoeuvres on the water to test your sailing skills.
This
ensures that you have the skills needed to proceed to
the Instructor Course.

Instructor
The course
covers the RYA syllabus, instructional techniques,
preparation of sessions (afloat and ashore) and is
moderated on the final day by a second coach/assessor.
To be eligible, you must be at least 16 years of age,
have passed the pre-assessment test, hold a valid first
aid certificate and a Level 2 Powerboat Certificate.
