All participants must be proficient
swimmers when undertaking water sports, and be confident in the water. This
means being capable of swimming fifty metres and remaining submerged for 10
seconds. However, if you are not
water confident, please contact the Centre and we will be pleased to advise
you. If you are suffering from any illness or medical condition (asthma,
diabetes etc), please enter this on your application form. All information
is treated with
the strictest confidence.
What to wear
Buoyancy Aids, Wetsuits and
Waterproofs are supplied, with helmets issued to all students where
necessary.
When sailing
We advise that you wear warm, casual clothing, including a hat and gloves.
JEANS or CORDS become waterlogged easily
and should not be worn.
Non-slip footwear is essential - canvas
shoes are ideal. WELLIES or HEAVY WALKING BOOTS should not be worn.
If you have your own waterproofs and other
equipment, please bring it with you. Don’t forget a complete change of
clothes and a towel.
Using your own
equipment
We offer pay and play slipway access at Cardiff Bay where experienced water
users are welcomed to each facility.
Your safety
Adventure Cardiff has safety management systems in place that are assessed
by inspections from the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority (AALA),
Welsh Canoe Association (WCA) and Welsh Amateur Rowing Association (WARA).
All water activities are supervised by
manned Safety Boats. We assess and identify potential risks and then take
action to manage these risks. The result is that balance is achieved,
between challenge, learning, enjoyment and safety.
